The Japanese government disseminates science, technology and innovation in Japan to the world through the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games with the basic idea that science, technology and innovation move us forward. Under such circumstances, the Japanese government is promoting 9 scientific and technological innovation projects such as environmentally-friendly hydrogen society, next-generation transport system applying automated driving technology, the forecasting and responding to sudden weather changes and others.

Helthcare in the era of "Beyond Smart Society"

To move beyond "Smart Society", the 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan (FY2016-2020) is promoting network and IoT technology not only in manufacture but also in other sectors. By so doing, Japanese government is aiming at advancing its economic growth and strengthening its healthy ageing society. Recently, industry-government-academia joint studies on systematizing and networking services have been carried out to construct a “Beyond Smart Society Platform”. We will report our research findings in the field of healthcare services, which has been supported by “Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promoting Program” since FY 2014.
